TWEAK CLASS is a workshop for aspiring screenwriters, taught by a produced, working professional and conducted the same way the business of screenwriting is practiced in the real world of major studios, agents and producers. We concentrate on making students’ scripts and ideas sellable, while helping jump-start careers from both artistic and professional points of view.

What Tweak Class and How To Screenplay is about — In my twenty years as a produced screenwriter, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of Hollywood’s all-time greats. My whole perspective as a teacher is about sharing the knowledge and working together as peers to develop new writers’ material. There is nothing “theoretical” about my class — everything you’ll learn is the real deal and comes from hard-earned, old-school, blood, sweat and tears “in the room” experience.
What I’ve put together isn’t some New Age mutual admiration society, some coddling cottage-industry “I’m Okay, You’re Okay” encounter group where we all agree how great we are, how good our writing is, and how we “deserve” success, etc. Believe me, if you’re looking for that trip, there are plenty of other writers groups and workshops out there happy to oblige you.
My class is selective — I try to cherry pick the best applicants to create the strongest possible chemistry between writers — and my students come to class to accomplish two things — 1) learn how to become the absolute best screenwriters they can be and 2) have a helluva lot of fun doing it. TWEAK CLASS at HOW TO SCREENPLAY is taught in Los Angeles. Classes are capped at twelve students each to allow for detailed reading of student work and guarantee maximum personal attention for everybody’s projects.
Classes run for ten to twelve consecutive weeks and individual sessions are three hours each — Classes are on Saturdays from 2 to 5pm or Sundays from 4 to 7pm. The course fee includes studio rental, professional class materials, production screenplays, in-depth individual story and script notes, etc.
